Loney Cottage
Located on the shores of Lake Seymore in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, this house merges the modern inclinations of our client with the regional traditions of the Adirondack style, resulting in a spirited lakefront retreat.
Lake Seymore, Vermont
This 1500 SF cottage is located on the west shore of Lake Seymore in a region of Vermont known as the “Northeast Kingdom”. It serves as the weekend retreat for a Quebec family. Although the cottage is visually sympathetic to the “summer camp” vernacular of the region, it redefines it in a way that promotes a more sensitive relationship with the natural environment and a more modern expression of domestic life.
Our intention was to create a building that feels at home in the north woods yet is liberated from the constraints of the local order. Architectural features include a stone entry courtyard with fire pit, loose-laid stone landscape walls, a screened porch, an abundance of glass, and a close integration with the natural features of the site.
