Madison Park Residence
The interior of this Madison Park home is designed like a modern piece of fine cabinetry housed within the shell of an old Seattle colonial. Winner of AIA / Seattle Times Home of the Month.
Seattle, WA
Our client appreciated the look and feel of this 1920’s gambrel-style colonial, yet desired a thoroughly modern home focused on views, light, open space and an understated ambiance. We responded by restoring the exterior of the existing building, gutting the interior and designing a modern home within the existing shell. New mahogany doors and windows accent traditional double-hung windows. Oversized rolling doors open the dining area to a new stone terrace. A large stone cooking island separates the kitchen from the dining area. Sinks and countertops are made of fossilized French limestone. Blackened steel and plantation mahogany permeate the interior offering warmth. The design is a study in simplicity and refined detail.
